WIN successfully completed a validation workshop following the assessment of governance and integrity in the Ugandan Water Sector. The event, conducted with support by GIZ, contributes to the Good Governance Action Plan of the Ugandan Ministry for Water and Environment
The workshop, held on 25th October 2013 in Kampala, discussed the results of a study on ‘Assessing Governance and Integrity in the Water Supply and Sanitation subsector’. Participants discussed in two groups the findings based on guiding questions and validated the consultants’ findings. The validation workshop highlighted a number of emerging issues for the sector, including capacity challenges, the need to utilize existing systems and standards, and the embedding of integrity actions into performance contracts.
No major objection to the consultants’ assessment of the sub-sector was found, the study organizers commended the sector for its openness to discuss governance issues.
